Mongolia's mineral advantage
With its close proximity to China, the world’s largest commodity consumer, and improving logistics links to Europe and Northeast Asia, Mongolia offers exceptional mineral sourcing at highly
competitive terms. However, harnessing this potential requires deep local networks and expertise.
Since embracing a democratic, free‑market system in 1990, Mongolia has seen a surge in mining sector investment. From 1990 through Q3 2023, the country attracted around USD 31 billion in FDI into mining and extraction.
Mongolia possesses a diverse and rich mineral endowment, including over 8,000 individual
deposits, including extensive deposits of coal, copper, fluorspar, gold, iron, rare earths, tungsten,
uranium, zinc, and more. This breadth makes it one of the most resource-endowed nations
globally.
